TruLight permanent lighting in cool white on a home at night (TruLight network scene)

Security Lighting Installation in Boise

A dark home is an easy target. TruLight's permanent LED system keeps your property illuminated every night with motion sensors, smart scheduling, and app-controlled zoning. Beautiful enough for everyday use. Bright enough to deter anyone who shouldn't be there.

How TruLight Protects Your Home

Security lighting is the first line of defense. TruLight combines motion detection, automated scheduling, and 2-3x brighter output than standard systems to keep your property visible and protected.

Motion-Triggered Responses

A motion sensor switches its zone to a security setting chosen from your saved settings, such as pure white to light up the area. About two minutes after the motion stops, the zone goes back to what it was showing before.

Sunset-to-Sunrise Scheduling

Schedule your lights to turn on automatically at sunset and off at sunrise. No timers to adjust seasonally. The system tracks your location and adapts on its own.

Visible Deterrent

A well-lit home is the simplest and most effective deterrent against break-ins. Studies consistently show that exterior lighting reduces property crime. TruLight keeps your home illuminated every night.

Smart Home Integration

Connect to Alexa or Google Home for voice control. Trigger lights from other smart home events. Pair with cameras and doorbells for a complete security ecosystem.

Zoned Security Scenes

Light your backyard in full security white while running a subtle warm accent on the front. Zoning through the TruLight app lets you protect different areas independently.

New from TruLight, October 2026

Introducing TruLight motion sensors

TruLight's announcement video covers the new motion sensor in about twelve minutes: what it is, how it ties into the app, how it installs in or beside the track, and how it compares with a bolt-on floodlight.

The sensor is not a light. It is a small Bluetooth device that binds to the TruLight app and tells your existing system when to turn one zone on. You assign it a zone, such as the front walkway or the side of the house where the garbage cans are, and a vitality period, the hours it is active. Motion inside that window switches the zone to the security setting you choose, such as bright white. About two minutes after the motion stops, the zone returns to whatever was on before, or turns off if the house was off.

It installs two ways. Most often the installer drills a hole between two lights with a step bit and seats the sensor in the track, so all you see is a small glass bubble between two lights. It can also mount right next to the track, covered by a second piece of track if you want it hidden.

The usual alternative is a floodlight bolted to the house or a post with a sensor on it, both of which need wire and power run to a new fixture. In the announcement, TruLight puts the electrician labor for that at $350 to $650 before the fixture itself. The TruLight sensor is additional hardware priced by the installer, and TruLight expects it to come in under a floodlight install.

TruLight says sensors can be installed into the system you have now.

Already have TruLight?

TruLumens can add motion sensors to the system you own. Once a sensor is installed, you set the zone and the active hours in the app.

How Security Lighting Works

1

Always-On Deterrence

Your lights turn on automatically at sunset. A warm accent glow keeps your home visible and welcoming to guests while signaling to anyone else that this property is monitored.

2

Motion Detection

A TruLight motion sensor sits in or beside the track and binds to the app. You assign it one zone and the hours it is active. When it catches motion inside that window, the zone switches to the security setting you choose, such as bright white.

3

Smart Recovery

About two minutes after the motion stops, the zone returns to the pattern that was on before, or turns off if the house was off. There is nothing to reset.

Frequently Asked Questions

A TruLight motion sensor is a small Bluetooth device, not a light. Your installer seats it in the roofline track between two lights or mounts it beside the track. In the app you assign it one zone and a vitality period, the hours it is active. Motion inside that window switches the zone to the security setting you choose, such as bright white, and about two minutes after the motion stops the zone goes back to its previous pattern. Adjustable sensitivity and a motion log are planned app updates.

Yes. TruLight says sensors can be installed into the system you have now. Contact TruLumens to add one to the lights you already own.

The sensor is additional hardware and TruLumens prices it with the install, since placement affects the work. In TruLight's announcement, the comparison is a wired motion floodlight, where an electrician can charge $350 to $650 before the cost of the fixture. TruLight expects a sensor install to cost less than a floodlight install. Ask for a quote for your home.

Yes. Zoning lets you run different modes on different sections of your home simultaneously. You might run a warm accent on the front while keeping the backyard in bright security white, or vice versa. Each zone operates independently.

That is entirely up to you. You can schedule lights to stay on from sunset to sunrise, run on a timer, or activate only on motion. The 48V system and efficient LEDs keep energy costs low even when running all night.

Not with TruLight. The dedicated warm white LEDs produce a natural, welcoming glow for everyday use. When a motion sensor trips, its zone switches to bright white or another saved setting you choose, then returns to what it was showing about two minutes after the motion stops.

TruLight is a lighting system, not a replacement for cameras or alarms. It works alongside your existing security setup as a powerful visual deterrent and alert system. Many homeowners pair it with smart cameras and doorbells for a layered approach.
